Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I grew up going to the Minneapolis Institute of Art and spending most of my free time doing creative projects - painting, quilting, sewing, embroidery, cross-stitch, creating collages, sketching fashions, and beyond. By the time I graduated high school I had decided to pursue a degree in Art History from Minnesota State University - Mankato. Upon completion of my degree I continued on to Northwestern University and received my certificate in Museum Studies. After college, I worked at the History Center of Olmsted County and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Meanwhile I met my husband on a seriously cold night in Minneapolis, negative forty degrees to be exact. I spent the text couple of years between San Francisco, Minnesota, and Charlotte, North Carolina before we decided to move to Charleston, South Carolina.
I paint a wide range of subject matter in my paintings. Some paintings are inspired by my time in Charleston - seashells, sunshine, and the ocean. Paintings of dresses, shoes, and handbags are inspired by my love for fashion. While others are inspired by my every day surroundings - butterflies, flowers, patterns, and objects. Painting for me is a type of mediation. I get lost in the details. I love seeing how it all turns out over time, because anyone who uses watercolors knows you can spend a lot of time watching the paint dry! I love experimenting with different types of watercolors - pan, tube, and liquid and enjoy adding metallic embellishments to some of my work.
